Class: VCD 1

Project Name: Three Of Me Book

As part of the 2024 Spring Semester's first project, students were instructed to create a book comprising a minimum of 5 spreads/10 pages. For the theme, students had to choose three adjectives that described themselves. For my book, I selected loyal, selfless, and flexible, and titled it "Jack of all Trades, Master of None." I chose this title because I recognize that my current skills are varied, and I have not yet mastered any particular technique. Typography was the most crucial element of the project, with photographs being of secondary importance.

Project Name: Package Design

As part of the second project in the semester, students were tasked with creating a new brand and packaging for either candy or chocolate. The project required us to devise a new brand name, determine its personality, and design new graphics for the packaging. For my design, I decided to take inspiration from a chameleon's tail, naming my brand "Chameleon Swirls." I envisioned my product as gummy candy, similar to gummy bears, with a kid-friendly design. As part of the project, we were also required to print out our design and fold it into the desired box.

Project Name: Calendar

Our project required us to create a surreal illustration representing a month in the upcoming year, using symbolism and surrealistic imagery.

My project description: The idea behind this project is based on March Madness and St. Patrick's Day. I used 2 surrealist techniques, scale change and modification. The main idea of the basketball court with a husky and a cougar was to represent the two favorites heading into March Madness 2024, the UConn Huskies and the Houston Cougars. The cloud represents the idea of "on cloud 9", which is how the athletes will feel when playing in March Madness, as it is a huge achievement in college basketball to win it all. The rainbow and people on the court are there to represent St. Patrick's Day, with the number on the jersey's being 17, to represent the day. The type is put into raindrops to symbolize rain, due to rainbows appearing mainly after/during rainstorms.

Class: Illustration Activity

Project Name: Energy Craze

For this project, we were given the option to choose between three different topics. I decided to focus on the energy drink craze. As per the requirements, I had to use traditional methods, involving wet media, such as markers, to establish an underpainting, followed by ink pens to add intricate details.

My project description: My project's idea is based on the energy drink craze. I prioritized the "Monster Energy" drink as the main theme. The idea of this piece was to have someone get eaten by the "Monster Energy" monster. The person is reaching out to attempt to get away from the energy drink craze/addiction. The liquid pouring from above represents the "Monster Energy" liquid, symbolizing the monster's saliva. The broken teeth represent the effect of drinking too many energy drinks. The multiple colors show the person's conversion to be a part of the monster. The colors represent the actual flavors of the energy drink. The lighter red represents "Strawberry Lemonade", green represents "Ultra Paradise", purple represents "Ultra Violet", blue represents "Ultra Blue", yellow represents "Ultra Gold", white represents "Zero Ultra", pink represents "Ultra Rosa", and the darker red representing "Watermelon".

Class: VCD 2

Project Name: Brand Redesign

The main project we had throughout the semester for the Visual Communication Design 2 Class was to redesign a given company. The company I got given was Redfin, a real estate company. For my redesign I wanted the symbols of real estate to be more apparent, because the current redfin logos are too minimalistic and do not signify real estate. For this project we were required to make a brand book with our redesigns (which includes mockups of posters, new logos, animations, etc.) alongside a Behance page. Click the buttons below to access the Behance page link or the brand book made on Issuu.
