2022 Fall Semester Projects at Cal Poly Pomona
2022 Fall Semester

Class: Drawing 1
Project Name: Still Life Practice
As a practice exercise, students had to draw a still life using objects found in the classroom. Students used their pencils to create a measuring unit from their selected objects. For this project, I selected the apple as the measuring unit.
Class: Drawing 1
Project Name: Self-Portrait
For this project, we had to create a self-portrait, but using only a pencil. The next requirement limited students by only allowing the use of a mirror instead of a photograph to capture our true physical features. We were also allowed to add elements that would help us express ourselves in the portrait. In my case, I chose to draw myself wearing the outfit of the character Cypher from the game Valorant, developed by Riot Games.

Class: 2D Design Activity
Project Name: Layering Color
For this project, students were required to work together with their colleagues to create an illustration and incorporate typography by placing it over or within the illustration. Additionally, students had the opportunity to utilize screen printing techniques, where each color was printed on its own layer.
Class: 2D Design Activity
Project Name: Storytelling
For our project, we had to create a stop-motion animation story that featured a circle, square, and triangle. Our only requirement was to show how these shapes came together. To start, we created a storyboard with keyframes to help us develop our ideas. However, I came up with the idea to use post-it notes instead of digital drawings. Despite having the option to use digital tools, I decided to go the traditional route and used a total of 134 Post-it notes.
Class: 4D Design Activity
Project Name: Logo Animation
For this project, we were tasked with creating a logo animation using Adobe After Effects. The professor provided us with several prompts to choose from. After brainstorming and sketching various ideas, I decided to go with Interloper Films. My objective was to design a logo featuring a man with a film camera for a head, appearing like an interloper amidst a group of text.

Class: 4D Design Activity
Project Name: Zine Final
As part of our final project for Foundations in 4D Design Activity, we were required to create a zine using Adobe InDesign. We were given the freedom to choose our topic and decide whether to use photographs or illustrations. For my project, I decided to document my daily life during Fall 2022, with my cat as a recurring theme. The zine consisted of 8 sections that were folded into an actual zine and submitted in class at the end of the semester. The order of the sections started from the bottom right, moved to the top right, then to the top left, down, and to the right again, until the back cover.
